NIUFilter: The car

NIUFilter is a regular segment on this blog that attempts to sift through the terabytes of information one can acquire on the web surrounding this tragedy, so click away, the links are meant to enhance your knowledge.

Whenever something like this happens there are always little bits of information that get lost under larger, more important bits of information. You’ll hear a few details about some aspect of an event and then, poof, never to be heard of again. One of those aspects in this case is the car that Kazmierczak owned and drove that day.

We only know a few details about his transportation. Oft repeated in the media is that he parked his carnot far” from Cole Hall. The night of th 14th a police bomb squad sent a robot in to inspect the car, just in case. Some raw video of that can be found here. Is that a Honda? Help me out here car people!

We also know that NIU Police Chief Don Grady said there was no suicide note found in the car, or anywhere for that matter. Medications, however, were apparently found in the car, what type is not specified but he was on three, Xanax, Ambien and Prozac. He had recently stopped the Prozac regimen. The car was processed for evidence after the shooting, on the 15th it was still being processed.

What happens after that isn’t really clear. Police departments often auction off this type of stuff, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has these auctions several times per year. Hard to see them auctioning this one off though, might just work better as a metal cube.

well according the the “honda” symbol clearly seen on the back of the car it would confirm that yes…this car is a honda..honda civic to be exact.

Thanks, I thought that was a Honda symbol. I always confuse Hondas and Hyundais for some reason.
